FAQ'S

Q: Are you able to meet by Zoom?

A: Yes. Indeed, I have found it so effective and efficient, especially for co-parenting counseling, that it is my current default way of working with clients. I use a secure version of Video Conferencing that is familiar to people because it has a zoom interface.

Q: How can therapy help me?

A: This depends on your situation, but generally speaking having a safe confidential space with honest and compassionate feedback can be of extraordinary benefit to most people. If you are feeling stuck, therapy is usually a great choice.

Q: How does confidentiality in therapy work?

A: Intake documents will outline this more thoroughly but the general idea is that whatever you share in therapy is held in confidence by the therapist. There are exceptions that relate to safety and of course when you give permission for sharing, like if you need me to communicate on your behalf with another professional (i.e. attorney or therapist).

Q: What is your style? What does therapy with you look like?

A: I would describe my style as compassionate support of growth with reflection and direction. I hold a safe supportive space for clients to reflect and enact changes they want in their lives. When it comes to co-parenting or mediation, I use a business-like approach to problem solving. This helps move away from the blame game and cut through the conflict to find win-win solutions.

Q: Why would I choose to work with you?

A: I am committed to helping families and individuals navigate the complexities of life with compassion and expertise. My goal is to provide you with a supportive environment where you can learn, grow, and heal. Together, we can build a brighter future for you and your family.

Q: What sort of clients do you work with?

A: Most of my work is with clients that are navigating family law, but I am happy to work with anyone, and any family. You are welcome here regardless of how you identify. Currently, my practice focuses solely on working with adults.

Q: Why are your intake forms so long?

A: Court-Involved Work - which is the core of my practice - requires a bit more thorough intake documents than standard therapy. Please give yourself the time to read and understand all that is involved, so that you are clear about what you are stepping into. I find that my clients are better served when well informed.

Q: Do you have a cancellation policy?

A: Please give as much notice as possible when you need to cancel a session, but I have a cancellation policy of a minimum of three days. This allows me to offer time slots to others.

Q: What are your fees?

A: Fees are based on the mode of therapy that we engage in. Please contact me for this information. *Note that for co-parenting counseling I collect a refundable retainer prior to starting our work together. This ensures there will be adequate funding available to cover the costs for the services provided and any funds not used are returned when it is clear our work is completed.

Q: Do you accept health insurance payments?

A: Co-parenting is not generally covered by any form of insurance; therefore, I am not on any insurance panels. I do not accept any third-party payments or reduced rate for services from insurance companies. If you would like me to provide you with a Record of Fees, I would be happy to do so upon request.

Q: Can referring parties and clients review your CV (resume)?

A: Absolutely! Click here to view.
